Carnegiea gigantea, commonly known as the Saguaro Cactus, is an iconic symbol of the American Southwest, prized for its tall, columnar form and distinctive branching arms. Native to the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and northwestern Mexico, this slow-growing cactus thrives in hot, dry conditions and full sun. Mature saguaros can reach an impressive 40–50 feet (12–15 m) tall in the wild and may live for well over 100 years. Best suited to USDA Zones 9a–11b, established plants tolerate intense summer heat well above 100°F (38°C) but should be protected from prolonged freezing temperatures, especially below 25°F (-4°C). Provide excellent drainage and water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Saguaros are exceptionally slow-growing and develop their iconic arms only after many years.
THIS LISTING IS FOR A YOUNG BARE-ROOT SPECIMEN. Plant in well-draining soil and watch it grow!
